Puppet of The Fates – Kay Glass

Further to my Author Spotlight interview it Kay Glass, (if you haven’t already seen this Author Spotlight interview, you can read it here) I’ve gleaned a bit more information about her latest novel ‘Puppet of The Fates’ and her thoughts behind it.

What genre do you consider your latest book?

Puppet of the Fates is a YA Paranormal Romance.

How did you come up with the title ‘Puppet of The Fates’?

I was searching for a book cover to catch my eye, and when I found the young girl dolled up as a puppet, the title hit like a bolt of lightning.

What are your expectations for the book?

I have none! *laughs* I just want people to like it, and if they do, I’ll get to work on the second instalment, Bitter Truth. Puppet of the Fates is the first of the Strange Curses trilogy, and I’m eager to sink my teeth into the second in the trilogy.

Is there a message in Puppet of The Fates that you want readers to grasp?

That love can overcome all obstacles- that no matter how bad your life may be, it WILL get better. It won’t be an overnight process, but there is always something good on the horizon- you just need to hold on and wait for it!

Which of your characters is your favourite and why?

Serene, definitely! She’s very like me- she seems to get injured in the strangest ways every time she turns around, but she believes it’ll get better, and she’s determined to stay strong and wait for the good times.

Which of your characters is most/most unlike you?

The Three Fates! There’s a coldness to them, an attitude of superiority (they are Goddesses, after all!) and they play humans like pawns on a chess board.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Absolutely! The idea for the story came to me as I was sitting in the emergency room, actually! I’d tripped over the coffee table and broken three of my toes just trying to cross my living room. I told my husband I felt like I was being punished for something horrible I’d done in a previous life- and the idea was born from that.
